Virtual Setting

Preparing images for Sim Street Journal involves almost as much work in the virtual world as it does in the real. Setup, story line, composition, aesthetics, etc. all are the same.

This month, I am most proud of the column The Aesthete and The Amateur where my avatar, Eleanor Medier, debates the virtues of purely visual art with Heavy Writer, the avatar for Daniel Popescu, my dear friend in Romania.

He and I fictitiously banter real concerns. He is the quintessential audience for visual art, thoughtful, sensitive, somewhat conservative, and not an artist himself. Partnering with him on this series results is some very original thinking!

Approaching the visual side, the virtual living room boasts several paintings from the Albers’s series Squares within Squares. One of the greatest aspects of the virtual world is being able to “live” with the classics, however they are defined.
